I just could not resist knitting up a
Tapestry Signature Scarf. It just seemed like the perfect combination for a cute little denim jacket and I was right. I saved just enough yarn from the scarf kit to make some really cute embellishments to a $3 pair of gloves I picked up at Target on sale! My notes for knitting the glove cuffs can be found below.
The
Signature Scarf looks so different than the Tapestry Wrap does since that was done in double moss stitch and the scarf is in super quick and easy garter stitch.

Here are two close up photos to show off the many colors and textures in this colorway. As you may recall, this
Signature Scarf yarn is very unique as there are color segment repeats in the whole scarf!

And now, a close up of the adorable gloves to match:

All I did was cast on 20 stitches on a US 13 needle. Rows 1-4: *(K2, P2), repeat from * to the end of the row. On the next row, bind off in pattern (K2,P2). Cut leaving about a 10" tail. Thread a tapestry needle and using a mattress stitch sew up the little seam. When you get to the end, you will have the cast on tail and the bind off tail near each other, tie together with an overhand knot. Lay the cuff over the top of the glove and, using a regular sewing needle and thread, very loosely tack the cuff to the glove. I used a running stitch just under the bind off row and it does not show at all. Make sure to keep stretching the glove to make sure that it will still be able to be put on after attaching the cuff. Your glove may vary a little in width, just adjust the number of stitches accordingly.
The Ring Rosette was so fun and quick, I just had to do it. I cast on 4 stitches. Knit into the back and the front of each stitch for two rows. You should now have 16 stitches. Bind off and wrap it into a rosette. Carefully attach it with a sewing needle and thread to the ring finger. You can leave the little streamer, or cut it off if you prefer.
Voila! A few yards of leftover
Yarn Stashio Yarn and few minutes creates a totally unique designer scarf and glove set! Since
Signature Scarves are perfect for both winter wear and fashion wear, having a matching set of gloves just makes good sense and why bother knitting the gloves when you can get a great pair of gloves on sale this time of the year! Load up in tons of colors, so you have just the right pair for your next
Yarn Stashio colorway!
Oh, by the way, I just got two great pairs of
cabled gloves at J. Jill that retailed for $29 for only $7.99! There is even a
cabled hat for only $4.99 that you could add a Yarn Stashio cuff to as well. If you are anything like me, knitting a pair of gloves or a hat would not be your project of choice. I put gloves right up there with knitting socks, if you know what I mean. I understand the concept but am not all that interested in actually doing it.
Please send photos of your embellished ready made items. I would love to share them with other knitters as well!
Happy New Year and May God Bless you abundantly in 2007!
